Myatt’s Fields Cocktails announce the latest drink borne of their collaboration with Monmouth Coffee, the Cold Brew Negroni.

The Negroni is one of the most famous of all cocktails. In the 100 years or so since Count Negroni ordered the first one, there have been many variations and new ideas, but not many have stuck.

Clemency Penn, founder of Myatt’s Fields Cocktails, commented “We’ve worked with Monmouth Coffee for several years. That partnership is without doubt a key reason why our Espresso Martini keeps getting selected as best in class. We wanted to explore other ways we could work together. The Cold Brew Negroni is the outcome of that work”.

‘Cold brew’ refers to a method of brewing coffee that involves steeping coffee grounds in cold or room-temperature water over an extended period, typically 12 to 24 hours. Cold brewing results in a coffee that is generally less acidic and bitter compared to hot brewing methods.

Myatt’s Fields Cocktails adapted this process for the Cold Brew Negroni, taking advantage of the accelerated nature of infusion in alcohol. An infusion of coffee beans as part of a six-week ageing process changes the nature of the cocktail. The resulting drink is a rich and complex cocktail that offers a luxurious sensory experience. The infusion provides a deep, bitter chocolate backbone to the drink, while also delivering a caffeine kick wrapped in the bittersweet, herbal, and slightly citrusy flavour profile of a Negroni.
